Concept art and prop reference sheets for my current university capstone project. As art lead and art director, I wanted to provide my artists with a visual of what the areas would look like and provide references for certain props. These concepts were also referenced by our designers for building out the levels and set dressing. I needed these illustrations to be multi-purpose for everyone on the team, so some illustrations are more focused on the color and lighting of the area, versus some being more prop-focused.
These all took several days each to conceptualize, requiring a lot of research on real-world mechanical structures and how to translate them into a simplified structure in-game. All of these rooms/areas are contained within one massive sky-ship, inspired by cold-war era technology and submarines.
